Spicer, Minnesota and the Willmar Lakes Area are not just a summer destination. January and February bring on new activities which celebrate the snow, cold and ice.

Spicer comes alive each winter with WinterFest. As seen in the Minneapolis Star Tribune this past Sunday:

Quick trip  spicer, mn     At WinterFest in Spicer, MN this coming Saturday, activities include a pond hockey tournament and Freezin’ for a Reason, a frozen lake plunge to benefit Special Olympics. Folks looking for a little adventure, and maybe some cash to take home, can hunt around town for the festival medallion; the winner pockets a $500 prize. The festival also offers ice skating (continues daily through February), an all-you-can-eat barbeque dinner at Westwood Cafe, a cooking with wine demonstration from 1-4 p.m. at the Glacial Ridge Winery and live music in the evening. More events run through Feb. 19; more information at www.spicermn.com.

Adding to the excitement is the opening of Zorbaz on the lake. It is in the former Melvin’s. This is the 10th Zorbaz to open and should be a great addition to Spicer and the Lakes Area.
