Cabin #11 gets new shingles

2 years ago the resort was hit by a very bad storm in May. This spring we are getting new shingles and steel siding on the cabins. Cabin # 11 is the first to be shingled. Justin Gronseth and his helper John used sheets of plywood against the cabin to make sure we didn’t also […]

Our first guests in cabin #9

Today we had our first guests visit cabin #9. As you can see, it was a beautiful day! The Peiks have been staying at Dickerson’s Resort for about 7 years. Their “official” cabin is #7, but they have also stayed in cabin #12 and the old cabin #9. The 4 of them had an overnight […]

Cabin #9 wall-blue or green?

There is a big decision to be made in cabin #9. There is a small wall in the livingroom that needs an accent color. I’m thinking blue or green. Blue is said to have a calming effect. Today we are trying out blue like the water of Lake Florida. Maybe tomorrow I will try painting […]

Welcome Spring to Lake Florida!

Today was a beautiful, sunny day at Lake Florida and we decided it was time to break out a spring flag at the resort. Whenever there is a project, Simon is right there to help and take part. Let’s hope the snow realizes we are tied of it and melts!

More snow drifts at the resort

We had a dusting of snow again at the resort and then the wind blew, and blew and blew!! The drifts around the cabins are even higher than before and have some interesting designs. This cabin was blasted by snow and appears to be “dripping snow ice!”  The curl kind of looks like the top […]

Connie vs. the carpenters at Dickerson’s Resort!

We all have jobs to do at the resort this winter. The carpenters, Travis & Brian need to get the cabin built, Bob plays gopher and Connie needs to decorate. I told Travis & Brian  they needed to hurry because I was almost finished with the wall hanging for above the fireplace. When they came […]

A long winter at the resort

It’s been a long winter at Lake Florida. We haven’t had overly much snow, but we have had way too much wind and really cold temperatures. Schools, churches and activities have been cancelled more than ever (or so it seems) Because we were going to be building a new cabin, we put up our snow […]

Cabin #9 gets it’s last window!

Travis & Brian were going to put in the last window in cabin #9 this morning, so mid morning I went to see how things were going. I think they have been trying to see how long they can have it in the cabin without breaking it! (or maybe it was the wind that delayed […]

Snow drifts around the cabins at the resort

The wind has created some beautiful drifts around the cabins again this winter. Come take a little trip around the resort with us. Pour Al is up to his armpits in snow! There is no “lake view” from cabin #8 anymore! The wind is blowing as I write this. I’m sure the drifts will be […]

Another Minnesota blizzard 1-26-14

Weather is always a topic of conversation in Minnesota and today was no different. We typically drive Bob’s pickup to church, but today we drove my car because it lives in the garage and has heated seats! We had our annual meeting so by the time we were finished and ready to leave it was […]
