Today is one of those days when we say “only in Minnesota!” It’s May 3rd and we still have ice on Lake Florida which is highly unusual.
View from our driveway
All around the resort there are still remnants of snow drifts. We are raking the lawn around the snow drifts! Simon and Sasha love having us outside with them and think chasing the rake is fun!

At the end of a crazy weather day, it’s nice to have a beautiful sunset!

Will the ice go off of Lake Florida tomorrow?
Will it snow again? Stay tuned!
Tonight was the last sunset in April at Dickerson’s Resort. We had to wait until the very end, but it was worth it. The crack in the Lake Florida ice shows hope for an ice off soon-we think!

There are many ways it starts to look and feel like the vacation season is around the corner. The days are getting longer, the temperatures are warmer and play equipment starts arriving at the resort! Today we brought the hydro bikes home from storage. Summer can’t be far away now!
The hydro bikes have come back to the resort
The hydro bikes will be so happy to return to their home on the beach!
We don’t remember what the day was like at the resort, but the sunset was beautiful!

A sunset is such a beautiful, calm way to end the day. We’d love to share our sunsets with you at Dickerson’s Lake Florida Resort. Make your reservations today!
It was a busy day at the resort. We had some things that needed to be taken out of cabin #13. We loaded glass, some windows that the repair man can use the mechanisms from, a couple of garbage containers and miscellaneous recycling into the pickup and sent Bob off to Willmar to get rid of it!

At the end of the day we were rewarded with this beautiful sunset. /It is so nice to be able to see the beach and have open water at the edge of Lake Florida.

Today is an exciting day. Magnuson Sheet Metal showed up to do a project for us. They are a Heating & Air Conditioning Company!

Lauren & Ben came to start the installation of a furnace and air conditioning in cabin #13. This will be a welcome addition to our resort! Of course, this would have been somewhat easier if it had been done when the building was built!

By the end of the day, most of the duct work was in place. Now a bunch of measuring to create some connections and Lauren or Ben will be back.
It’s Earth Week and Prairie Woods Environmental Learnng Center which is right next to the resort held it’s annual celebration on Saturday. The day started with pancakes and sausages served by Tripolis Church in Kandiyohi.
There were many exibits, fun crafts to do, educational seminars and of course the climbing wall. There was a great turnout as you can see by the cars parked all the way out to the entrance at highway 29.

It’s a beautiful day. It’s a little unusual to have so much snow during Earth Week, but everyone made the best of it!
Two days ago, April 17th, we had boat races on Lake Florida and today the boats are on “ice dock” The sand beach which was so visble is now covered with snow.

The weatherman predicted cold and snow and he was right. We are very thankful-we only received about 6 inches rather than the 12 they thought we would get!
Snow at the resort again
The sonw really is beautiful.

There is hope for the day-the sun is coming up and all of this snow will be gone by the end of the day – we hope!
Hope for the day-the sun is coming!
It has been a truly long winter at the resort and in all of Minnesota. Today we had a glimmer of hope as there was about 6 feet of open water at the edge of the beach of Lake Florida!
We decided it was time for boat races!
Will it be yellow or orange first?
Bob got a yellow and an orange boat out of the beach toys and the race began.
Will it be orange or yellow to the finish line first?
We just love living at Lake Florida and being able to watch all of the beautiful sunsets!
Here’s another one that turned out better than we expected!

Should be a good day at the resort tomorrow with a beautiful sunset like that – don’t you think?
